User Guide

Everything you need to know about using Camchain.

Getting Started

Creating an account

Go to the registration page, enter your display name, email, and a password (at least 8 characters). A verification email will be sent. Verify your email before signing in.

Adding a vehicle

Once logged in, click Add vehicle from your garage. Fill in the year, make, model, and optional details like nickname, type, and current odometer reading. The vehicle will appear in your garage immediately.

Navigating the app

The top bar gives you quick access to your dashboard, vehicles, and profile settings. Click on a vehicle card to view its timeline, service logs, fuel records, and schedules.

Service Logs

Adding a service log

From a vehicle's page, click Add log. Enter a summary, service date, odometer reading, detail level (Basic / Intermediate / Advanced), and optional notes. You can also add maintenance items with system, component, action, and specifications.

Adding maintenance items

Within a service log, use the Items section to record specific work performed. For each item, select the system (Engine, Brakes, etc.), component, action (Replace, Inspect, etc.), and optional specifications (fluid type, capacity, part number, torque spec, interval).

Editing and deleting

Logs can be freely edited within 24 hours of creation. After 24 hours, the log is locked and further edits create a visible edit history. You can delete logs you created at any time from the log detail page.

Viewing edit history

If a log has been edited, you will see an edit history indicator. Click it to view previous versions of the log.

Fuel Tracking

Logging a fill-up

From a vehicle's page, go to the Fuel tab and click Add entry. Enter the date, odometer reading, volume, and cost. You can mark it as a partial fill-up or full tank.

Viewing fuel economy

Fuel economy is calculated automatically between full-tank fill-ups. Results are displayed in your chosen unit (L/100km, km/L, or MPG). View the fuel table or graph on the vehicle's fuel page.

Maintenance Schedules

Creating a schedule

From a vehicle's page, go to the Schedules tab and click Add schedule. Set the task name, interval (by distance, time, or both), and which system/component it applies to.

Due and overdue tracking

Schedules calculate due status based on the last completed log. The vehicle card shows a summary of upcoming and overdue tasks. Click on any schedule to view details.

Attachments

Adding files to a log

When creating or editing a service log, you can attach photos (JPEG, PNG) and PDF files. On mobile, you can take a photo directly or pick from your gallery. Pro plan allows up to 3 attachments per log. Free plan does not include attachments.

Viewing attachments

Attached files appear in the log timeline. Click on a photo to view it in full-screen with zoom and pan. PDFs open in a new tab or the system PDF viewer.

Exports

Vehicle history PDF

From a vehicle's page, click Export PDF to generate a professional PDF of the full service history. The PDF includes vehicle details, all service logs with items and notes, and page numbering. Requires Pro plan.

Individual service log PDF

From any service log detail page, click Export PDF to generate a PDF for that single log. Requires Pro plan.

CSV export

From the profile page, click Export fleet CSV to download all your vehicles and their service logs as a CSV file. This works on all plans.

ZIP attachment download

From the profile page, click Download attachments to download all attached files across your fleet as a ZIP archive. Requires Pro plan.

Vehicle Valuation

Getting a valuation estimate

From a vehicle's page, view the Valuation card. Click Get estimate to receive a data-informed value based on your vehicle's make, model, year, odometer, and optional condition notes. Requires Pro plan.

How it works

The estimate is generated by Google's Gemini AI. Vehicle details are sent without any personal identifiers. The result is for informational purposes only and should not be considered a professional appraisal.

Sharing & Roles

Adding members to a vehicle

Go to the vehicle's Settings page and use the Members section. Enter the email address of the person you want to add and select their role. They must have a Camchain account.

Role permissions

Primary Owner — full control, can transfer ownership, manage members, delete the vehicle. Owner — can edit settings and manage members, cannot transfer primary ownership. Editor — can add, edit, and delete logs and fuel entries. Cannot change settings. Viewer — read-only access to all data.

Removing members

Owners and Primary Owners can remove members from a vehicle at any time from the vehicle settings page.

Importing Data

Supported apps

Camchain supports importing from Fuelly, Drivvo, Fuelio, aCar, and generic CSV files. For each app, export your data as CSV from the source app first.

Importing a CSV

From the profile page, click Import from another app. Select your CSV file and follow the column-mapping wizard. Camchain will attempt to auto-detect the format. You can review and adjust the mapping before importing.

Profile & Settings

Units and currency

From the profile page, you can set your preferred distance unit (km or mi), default currency, fuel economy display, and country. These defaults apply to new vehicles and logs.

Theme

Toggle between light and dark mode from the profile page. Your preference is saved and synced across devices.

Billing

View your current plan and upgrade to Pro from the profile page. If you have an existing Stripe customer account, you can manage billing details from the billing page.
